University and Champaign police have called for public information regarding a series of attacks on women in the area surrounding the university. The assaults took place last week on Healey Street, Goodwin Avenue, and inside the music building. The Illinois police are looking for help identifying the suspect in the attacks.

Police arrest Urbana man for stealing fuel from local farm

A 39-year old Urbana man was arrested for stealing fuel by deputies in Monument Square on Wednesday. The man allegedly stole approximately 130 gallons of fuel from a farm near Urbana-Moorefield road. Authorities have charged the man with criminal trespassing, theft, and possession of criminal tools.

Teenager’s death on highway ruled a suicide

A 16-year-old was killed last week while walking along a busy interstate. According to police reports the accident occurred on Interstate 380 near Urbana.

The teenager was killed when he was hit by a car traveling north. Police later ruled the accident a suicide.

Champaign police aim to crack down on St. Patrick’s day festivities

Champaign and University of Illinois police departments are preparing for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. According to a police statement, the police departments are coordinating with city officials to potentially cut down on disruptive behavior.

The city will attempt to limit the partying by not allowing package liquor stores to open before 11 a.m. Campus police also plan on limiting the amount of drinking that students attempt to do in class.
