The time limit on filing an appeal

Posted on November 6th, 2009 No Comments

When an individual is convicted of a crime, that individual generally has the option to file for an appeal. However, there is often a certain time limit for appeals.

The time limit often depends on state law and may last between 30 and 90 days. Once the time limit elapses, convicted criminals typically have very few options, unless new evidence is presented that could significantly change the verdict.

If you or anyone you know has been convicted of a crime and is seeking an appeal, contact the Champaign criminal defense lawyers of Thomas A. Bruno & Associates at 217-328-6000.
