Half a billion eggs recalled for salmonella

Posted on August 24th, 2010 No Comments

The Food and Drug Administration has officially recalled over 550 million eggs from Wright County and Hillandale egg farms in Iowa for possibly containing salmonella bacteria.  Salmonella can get into a person’s gastrointestinal system when consumed in a defective food product and cause food poisoning.

The recalls came after over 1,200 complaints of salmonella food poisoning related to Wright County and Hillandale’s eggs since May.  The recall affects eggs sold under the brand names: Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph’s Boomsma’s, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms, and Kemps.  The majority of food poisoning cases reported were clustered in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Nevada, North Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.

If you or someone you love has suffered from a defective food product, contact the Champaign personal injury lawyers of Thomas A. Bruno & Associates at 217-328-6000 to learn more about your rights.
