Man sentenced to five years in prison for arson

Tristain Jackson, 19, of Urbana, was sentenced to five years in prison for setting fire to an apartment building in Urbana.

According to Champaign County prosecutor, Nick Selvaggio, there was no excuse for the crime, and Jackson had a long criminal history including hard drug use.  Selvaggio states, “What’s problematic for Mr. Jackson is his conduct seems senseless…there doesn’t seem to be any real reason why he did it.”  On Sept 5, Jackson set fire to a trash can in the laundry room of Stoney Ridge apartment complex on Mosgrove Street.
