Early this morning a woman was shot in the shoulder at a north Urbana apartment complex.

The 30-year-old woman was walking to the laundry room in her apartment complex around 2 a.m. when she noticed two men standing in the doorway, lingering. She returned a short while later for her laundry, and the men were still there, this time with ski masks on, and one of them had a gun.

They yelled something at the woman, and then a shot was fired. The woman was retreating to her apartment when she was struck in the shoulder with a bullet. She called 9-1-1, but the police were unable to track down the men who allegedly were responsible for the attack.

Hector Camacho turns himself in on child abuse charges

Posted on April 11th, 2012 No Comments

A man whose profession was centered on fighting other men will now be fighting child abuse charges that were filed against him at the end of 2011.

The ex-boxer, Hector “Macho” Camacho, turned himself in to Florida authorities after he learned of a warrant that was circulating asking for his arrest. The charges, in relation to the warrant, deal with a fight that Camacho had with one of his sons. No specific details were given about the fight, but a neighbor had called the police after she heard an argument in the front yard of the home.

One of Hector’s sons apparently reported that his father abused him in the fight. Camacho vehemently denies these charges, and that is why he chose to go to the authorities. He wants to clear up this matter, and claims that his relationship with his children has always been a good one.
