Driver being charged for leaving scene of accident involving injury
Champaign police officers are charging a Paxton man for leaving the scene of an accident involving injury. The accident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. last Thursday north of Bradley Avenue on North Mattis Avenue.
Police reports indicate that the 37-year old Paxton driver rear-ended a 32-year old Champaign woman’s vehicle when it was stopped in the southbound lanes of North Mattis.
After the accident, witnesses told police they saw the man get out of his vehicle and hop a fence into a nearby apartment complex. Officers were able to find and arrest the driver shortly after he fled the scene of the accident.
The Champaign woman suffered head, neck, and arm injuries and was taken to Carle Hospital for treatment.
