Cases We Handle

DUI convictions can result in either a felony or misdemeanor charge, depending on the details of the situation. First-time offenders will typically be charged with a misdemeanor, while those with multiple DUI arrests or those whose driving results in injury to others may be charged with a felony.

At Bruno Law Offices, we are dedicated to providing tenacious legal representation to all of our clients in cases involving:

  • Drunk Driving
  • Felony DUI

  • Consequences of Driving Under the Influence

Driving under the influence is treated as a serious criminal offense, and the state of Illinois has some of the harshest drunk driving penalties in the country. First- and second-time offenders are typically charged with a misdemeanor and subject to fines up to $2500, prison terms of a maximum of one year, and driver’s license suspension lasting up to five years.

However, if anyone was injured due to the intoxicated driving, or if it is the driver’s third or higher DUI conviction, the charge is usually upgraded to a felony. In this case, maximum fines increase to $10,000, terms of imprisonment can last as long as three years, and driver’s license suspension can last up to six years.
