A Champaign County Grand Jury indicted an Urbana couple today on felony charges of stealing from a local youth sports organization.

The husband was indicted on one count of unauthorized use of property, one count of receiving stolen property, and one count of greand theft. The wife was indicted on one charge of receiving stolen property.

The couple is accused of stealing funds from the Urbana Girls Fastpitch traveling softball program.

Once police were made aware of suspicious purchases on the program’s account, its financial records were subpoenaed. This revealed over $11,000 in purchases and transfers of money from the last two years, made by the husband, who was the executive director of the organization at the time.

It took officers around four months to determine what purchases where legitimate and which were not.
