“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” is a 2-week drunk driving enforcement program being held across the state of Illinois from August 19-September 5.  The Illinois State Police, Illinois Department of Transportation, and many local law enforcement agencies in the state will be participating in the effort.

In addition to drunk driving, officers will be looking out for drivers not wearing seat belts and speeding drivers.  The enforcement program will have over 200 roadside checks set up all over the state.

Illinois State Police Director Hiram Grau stated, “Illinois State Police want motorists to arrive at their final destinations safely during the holiday weekend and will be targeting designated areas looking for speeders, seatbelt violators, and DUI offenders.  Violating these laws can result in fines and possible jail time and will be treated as criminal acts by the police and court system.”
