Illinois state police report that arrests for traffic violations and drunk driving were on track with previous years over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Illinois state troopers made 16 arrests related to driving under the influence, driving without a license, driving without insurance, and driving without a seat belt.  Reports did not indicate how many traffic citations were given without arrest.

In the month of August, Illinois State Police District 11 alone issued a total of 2,431 traffic violation citations.  798 of these traffic citations were for speeding.
