A sexual predator who took pictures of nude or partially clothed young women in secret for several years was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment in a federal jail on Monday, November 25. Fifty-nine-year-old Mahomet resident Michael Denight admitted his guilt to possessing child pornography and in sexually exploiting a minor last May.

Denight’s case was presided ove by Judge Michael McCuskey in a U.S. District Court in Urbana. The prosecuting attorney was Assistant U.S. Attorney Elly Peirson.

Denight was first caught committing these crimes in February 2012 when he placed a video monitoring device in a coffee shop’s restroom on East Daniel Street in Champaign Urbana Street in Illinois. Denight confessed to Champaign police when he was arrested that he also tried to make recordings of women’s private activities in two campus restaurants’ restrooms.

Police were able to find photographs of nude and semi-nude young girls between the ages of 12 and 15 saved on his computer.
